Making Prevention Personal: Our Story, Mission & Impact

Be the Change 406 Coalition was founded in 2018 as a youth substance prevention organization with a clear vision: A Safe and Healthy Beaverhead County. Our diverse membership includes representatives from every aspect of the community, anchored by our dynamic youth coalition composed of middle and high school students who lead advocacy efforts and drive real change. Our approach is both strategic and supportive, implementing evidence-based strategies while creating a culture of health for youth and families.

Real Impact Through Youth-Led Advocacy

From securing policy changes like making Vigilante Park tobacco-free to taking youth leaders to national CADCA conferences in Washington D.C., we’re proving that young people can create meaningful change. Our monthly game nights provide substance-free alternatives for grades 6-12, while our advocacy efforts have secured funding for security improvements and built partnerships across Beaverhead County. As Benjamin Franklin said, “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure” – and that philosophy drives every initiative we undertake.
